The other day I bought a packet of carrot batons at Tesco. Carrot batons!! I was so looking forward to perhaps twirling them in the air or maybe even leading a parade. Imagine my surprise to find a packet full of sliced carrots.

I couldn't even wave them near a parade.

How disappointing.

Perhaps "baton" is the British equivalent of "button."

Yes, they were just carrot sticks. Like when you slice the carrot longwise. I suppose I should have known...I mean, they WERE in a clear plastic bag.
